Sonic Receptacles: Salzburg, Summer Art Academy, 2019
For the month of August 2019, Sonic Receptacles changed consciousness in Salzburg by generating its own music, as well as playing the recording of Miles Davis, and the famous Mozart. In the process, Matt Mottel became the adopted son of Mozart; Mozart Jrrr; creating mystification and confusion in a town with a distinct traditional identity. Sonic Receptacles is also a banjo or a tuned drum head with a hidden blue-tooth speaker in the resonator as an inanimate sounding object in the most popular tourist traps. The outcome of Sonic Receptacles was a room of sculptural objects and sounding devices that also shared the video documentation of Mozart Jrrr's public actions.
